Shortstop Jet Charter Retires Falcon 900C Executive Jet

Australia’s Shortstop Jet Charter has retired its only executive jet, a Falcon 900C, according to ch-aviation research. The aircraft, registered as VH-OAA (msn 188), completed its final flight on November 8, 2024, around Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport. It was subsequently re-registered in the United States as N914SS on December 16 and is now owned by Texas-based Meregrass Air Charter.
The 23.4-year-old Falcon 900C, configured to carry up to 14 passengers, had been part of Shortstop Jet Charter’s fleet since 2017. Its retirement marks the end of the company’s executive jet operations.
Shortstop Jet Charter, headquartered at Melbourne Essendon Airport, now operates an L-39C military jet trainer and a DC-3. The company provides private jet charter, aircraft management services, and fixed-base operation (FBO) services. It also offers unique flight experiences on its iconic DC-3, nicknamed “Melbourne’s Gooney Bird,” appealing to aviation enthusiasts and tourists alike.
Meanwhile, Meregrass Air Charter, the new owner of the Falcon 900C, operates a Part 135 fleet that includes a Falcon 50EX, a Falcon 900B, and three Saab 2000s. The Falcon 900C has not yet been added to its active charter fleet. Meregrass specializes in private air charter services, leveraging a mix of business jets and regional aircraft to cater to diverse customer needs.
This transition reflects the evolving strategies of both companies in the competitive private aviation market.
