Freighter operator Silk Way West has launched a new website that includes online booking and enhanced shipment tracking capabilities.

The new site offers several new features, including newly integrated online booking services along with enhanced freight tracking and a CO2 calculator.

Azerbaijan-based airline said that the online booking feature enables forwarders and sales agents to send cargo inquiries directly to the airline through the website and receive a booking confirmation with flight data by email.

The enhanced tracking service with an integrated CO2 emission calculator offers real-time status tracking through the website, which calculates carbon emissions generated from shipments based on cargo weight, origin and destination.

President of Silk Way West Airlines Wolfgang Meier said: “Adjusting the website in line with our new corporate identity and adding useful features and important functions makes it a great experience for customers to step into the Silk Way world. The next stage in digitalising our processes is the launch of online booking through our website, which will further enhance our capacity to reach prospective clients.”

As well as website modernisation, the carrier has also been looking to update its fleet this year.

In June, the carrier announced it had signed a purchase agreement for two of the recently launched Airbus A350 freighters as part of moves to modernise its fleet.

Last year, the carrier also added its capacity to a third-party online booking portal.
