Silversea Celebrates Silver Nova’s Successful Alaska Season
Silversea is proud to announce the successful completion of the Silver Nova’s inaugural season in Alaska, marking a significant milestone for the luxury cruise line. Over the summer, the new vessel traveled more than 32,000 miles across 19 departures, providing guests with unparalleled experiences in one of the world’s most breathtaking regions.
During its time in Alaska, Silver Nova offered more than 100 shore excursions, allowing travelers to explore stunning destinations such as Juneau, Skagway, Sitka, and Ketchikan. The ship’s guests had the opportunity to immerse themselves in the natural beauty and rich culture of these unique locales.
In a celebration of art and culture, renowned photographer Steve McCurry captured stunning images of Silver Nova against the backdrop of the Alaskan wilderness in August. In honor of the company’s 30th anniversary, Silversea unveiled an exhibition of McCurry’s work onboard the ship, showcasing his remarkable talent and the beauty of the Alaskan landscape.
After completing its successful season, Silver Nova has set sail for Asia for the first time. However, the ship is expected to return to Alaska next year, operating from May through September to continue offering travelers unforgettable adventures in this stunning region.
“Although Silver Nova’s inaugural Alaska season has come to a close, our guests’ in-depth discoveries of the region’s vast natural beauty will live long in their memories,” stated Bert Hernandez, president of Silversea. “I am grateful to our industry-leading crew for going above and beyond to deliver the finest service at sea and exceed the expectations of our guests. Offering travelers a unique destination experience, this ship brings the outside on board like never before with its pioneering design and architectural innovations.”
In recognition of Silver Nova’s inaugural season, Silversea shared impressive statistics highlighting the ship’s achievements:
- Guests enjoyed nearly 10,000 bottles of Champagne throughout the 133-day season.
- The Juneau Alaska String Band performed 16 times, adding a local cultural touch to the onboard experience.
- Experts provided more than 120 lectures, enriching guests’ knowledge of the region.
- Participants engaged in nearly 200 classes through the innovative Sea and Land Taste (S.A.L.T.) culinary program, enhancing their culinary skills and appreciation for local cuisine.
