SKS Airways Dispels Funding Rumors, Confirms E2 Lease On Track Amidst CEO Resignation

Malaysia’s SKS Airways (KI, Johor Bahru) has refuted recent media reports suggesting financial challenges and a funding crisis. The airline clarified that claims of seeking funds to pay for ten leased Embraer E195-E2s from Azorra Aviation are “false and reek of mischief.” This statement comes in response to reports indicating a temporary suspension of DHC-6-300 flights and a purported need for additional funding.

SKS Airways assured that payments for the E195-E2s have been made, securing the leased aircraft with subsequent payments due upon delivery. The airline emphasized its commitment to fulfilling financial obligations, ensuring timely payments, and maintaining employee welfare without any overdue payables.

Addressing the delayed delivery schedule, SKS Airways acknowledged supply chain constraints and ongoing discussions with the lessor to refine the revised aircraft delivery timeline. The carrier now targets the first E195-E2 delivery in the second quarter of 2024.

SKS Airways is actively seeking additional investors for Phase Two of its growth plan and expressed interest in ordering an additional 20 aircraft beyond the Azorra supply. The airline clarified that it seeks investors with strategic contributions to support further growth.

Contrary to reports, SKS Airways explained the temporary cancellation of scheduled Twin Otter flights between Kuala Lumpur Subang, Tioman, and Pulau Redang, citing unpredictable weather during the imminent monsoon season. The airline deemed claims of flight cancellations due to funding issues as “categorically false” and emphasized its commitment to providing accurate information.

The statement also confirmed the resignation of CEO Dzuleira Abu Bakar, effective November 10, with Executive Director and Accountable Manager Rohman Ahmad stepping into the role. SKS Airways affirmed its dedication to a smooth entry into service for the new aircraft, aligning investments with the revised delivery timeline and collaborating closely with lessor Azorra and original equipment manufacturers.

In concluding the statement, SKS Airways reassured stakeholders of its commitment, stating, “We wish to reassure all our stakeholders that SKS Airways is on track and remains committed to realizing its next phase of growth.” Stay tuned for further updates as SKS Airways progresses with its growth plans.
