SKY Airline Perú receives exemption to serve Florida

The US Department of Transportation (DOT) has tentatively granted SKYPerú (H8, Lima Int’l) exemption to serve Fort Lauderdale Int’l and Miami Int’l from Peru, as well as other destinations in the United States on a charter basis. The DOT said that although the carrier was controlled by its Chilean parent, SKY Airline (Chile) (H2, Santiago de Chile Int’l), and that its flight operations director/acting chief pilot is a citizen of Argentina, the liberalised air traffic agreements with the involved countries did not ban such an arrangement. The low-cost carrier will now have two years to launch its proposed services to the United States. SKY Airline Perú signalled its intention to launch routes from Lima Int’l to Florida in the first half of 2021 using its all-economy class A320-200Ns, initially operating daily flights. SKY Airline (Chile) does not currently serve the United States.
