Skyways Charter Expands Midsize Jet Fleet with First Citation Sovereign

Share

Skyways Charter, a Fort Lauderdale Executive (FXE)-based operator, has expanded its on-demand charter capabilities with the addition of its first Cessna Citation Sovereign. The move strengthens the company’s presence in the midsize jet segment and enhances its ability to serve clients seeking longer-range private jet solutions across the U.S.

The newly added aircraft, registered as N253TX (msn 680-0253), is a 16.3-year-old Citation Sovereign configured to seat up to nine passengers. The jet is currently active and available for charter, offering a versatile mix of range, speed, and comfort that is ideal for both business and leisure travelers.

Previously, N253TX was part of Jet Linx Aviation’s Part 135 fleet. It was imported from Luxembourg in 2018 and had been listed under the Jet Linx certificate ever since. The aircraft’s last recorded operation under the ‘JTL’ callsign was on January 21, 2025, flying from Indianapolis International (IND) to Newburgh (SWF). Jet Linx continues to operate four additional Citation Sovereign aircraft as part of its fleet.

With this latest addition, Skyways Charter now operates two aircraft under its Part 135 certificate—the new Citation Sovereign and a Citation X, a high-speed jet that seats up to eight passengers. The Citation X, which is over 26 years old, has been a reliable workhorse for the company, but the Sovereign brings a new layer of range, performance, and cabin size that will allow Skyways to compete more directly in the premium midsize charter market.

The Cessna Citation Sovereign is well-known for its 3,200+ nautical mile range, spacious cabin, and ability to access airports with shorter runways. Its cabin comfortably accommodates nine passengers and features a full refreshment center and an enclosed lavatory, making it a favorite among executives and high-net-worth travelers looking for efficiency and comfort on coast-to-coast or regional flights.

By adding the Sovereign, Skyways Charter is responding to increasing demand in the midsize private jet market, where travelers are seeking aircraft that can deliver both performance and value without sacrificing luxury. With strong charter demand forecast for 2025 and beyond, the move positions Skyways to capture a larger share of this high-growth market.

As a Part 135-certified operator, Skyways Charter offers flexible, on-demand private jet services across North America. The company’s recent fleet expansion demonstrates its commitment to growth, operational excellence, and client satisfaction. With two proven aircraft models now in service—the Citation X and the Citation Sovereign—Skyways is poised to offer tailored solutions for a wide range of travel needs.

This strategic fleet addition reinforces Skyways Charter’s goal of becoming a leading midsize charter provider, delivering reliability, comfort, and reach for clients flying out of South Florida and beyond.
