SLH Celebrates 35 Years and 600 Members
Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH), an established collective of independent luxury boutique properties, is marking a momentous milestone as it closes in on its 35th anniversary with 600 member hotels worldwide. The company welcomed 80 new additions in 2024 alone and anticipates seven exciting new openings slated for 2025. This expansion underlines SLH’s commitment to offering discerning travelers a curated selection of intimate, high-end properties across the globe.
Among the forthcoming openings is The Plein Hotel in Milan, Italy, set to welcome guests in January. Designed by renowned German designer Philip Plein, the 13-room hotel will deliver an upscale blend of nightlife and culinary offerings that capture the spirit of the city’s cosmopolitan scene. February will see the debut of The Goethe Hotel in Rome, inspired by the famed “Italian Journey” of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe and located steps from the iconic Trevi Fountain. In Copenhagen, SLH enthusiasts can look forward to the launch of the 69-room Park Lane Copenhagen in January, a chic boutique escape characterized by a sleek all-white palette in a prime location.
Further additions include Barrington’s Hotel & Residences in Almancil, Portugal, opening in April 2025 and offering exceptional golf and beach access. In May, The Laguna Coast Resort in Naxos, Greece, will join SLH’s Considerate Collection, aligning with the group’s dedication to eco-friendly travel experiences. The Levantine Hill Hotel in Australia’s Yarra Valley is on track to open in June 2025, occupying a prestigious spot on the Levantine Hill Estate. Meanwhile, the Hermes Galapagos Mega Catamaran, set to launch in April 2025, will provide an exclusive experience for just 20 guests across 12 suites, each boasting private balconies and jacuzzis.
Reflecting on the recent accomplishments, SLH Chief Operating Officer Richard Hyde noted the company’s substantial growth and influence. In a remarkable year, SLH not only added a record number of new properties but also surpassed the 600-member mark, expanded its global team, and forged compelling partnerships designed to broaden its portfolio’s diversity. Perhaps most significantly, SLH embarked on a strategic partnership with Hilton, allowing SLH properties to be booked through Hilton’s channels and enabling members of the Hilton Honors loyalty program to earn and redeem points at these boutique luxury hotels.
The collaboration with Hilton stands out as a strategic move that further enhances SLH’s reach, integrating the boutique luxury concept into a global hospitality giant’s distribution network. As a result, travelers seeking unique, character-rich accommodations benefit from increased visibility, convenient booking avenues, and reward redemption opportunities.
As SLH prepares to celebrate its 35th anniversary, the brand remains focused on meeting the evolving demands of travelers who value exclusivity, authenticity, and intimate guest experiences. This dedication to thoughtful, high-quality offerings is reflected in the upcoming properties spanning Europe, Australia, and the Galapagos Islands. With new openings on the horizon, continued strategic partnerships, and a mission to deliver exceptional stays worldwide, Small Luxury Hotels of the World is poised to maintain and elevate its status as a leading curator of boutique luxury accommodations.
