South Korea’s t’way Air to Rebrand as Trinity Airways

South Korean low-cost carrier t’way Air plans to rebrand as Trinity Airways in the first half of 2026, signaling a major shift in its identity and strategy. In its announcement, the airline said the name “Trinity” derives from the Latin word “Trinitas,” meaning “three come together as one,” symbolizing a new synergy across diverse sectors of the hospitality industry. The carrier called the move a “symbolic turning point” that will reflect its ambitions beyond traditional low-cost operations.

A new livery will accompany the rebrand, giving Trinity Airways a fresh visual identity as it seeks to differentiate itself in a highly competitive market.

The transformation follows Daemyung Sono’s acquisition of a controlling interest in the airline. Earlier this year, the hospitality group purchased the 28.02% stake previously held by T’way Holdings, then increased its voting stake to 64.2% through affiliates Sonosquare and Sono International. This majority control positions Daemyung Sono to steer the airline toward a broader travel and hospitality platform.

According to ch-aviation data, t’way Air currently operates 44 aircraft, including six A330-200s, five A330-300s, five Boeing 737-8s, twenty-six Boeing 737-800s and two Boeing 777-300ERs. Industry observers say the rebrand could help the carrier tap new market segments, expand international routes and create cross-selling opportunities with Daemyung Sono’s hotels and resorts.

The shift to Trinity Airways reflects a growing trend among airlines to reposition themselves as integrated travel brands, blending aviation with hospitality to offer passengers a more comprehensive experience.
