Southwest Airlines Announces Largest-Ever Route Expansion for 2024, Adds New Domestic and International Flights
Southwest Airlines is set to significantly expand its route network, launching an array of new domestic and international flights in 2024, marking the airline’s most extensive route offering to date. Starting June 4, 2024, Southwest will introduce daily flights from Orlando, Florida, to six new international destinations.
These include popular tourist locations such as Cancun, Mexico; Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands; Nassau, Bahamas; Providenciales in the Turks and Caicos Islands; Punta Cana, Dominican Republic; and San José, Costa Rica. This expansion complements existing routes from Orlando to Aruba and Montego Bay, and by June next year, Southwest will operate flights to Cancun from 17 U.S. destinations.
In California, Southwest is boosting its presence as the leading airline operator at Hollywood Burbank Airport. The new schedule includes daily flights from Burbank to Boise, Idaho; Kansas City, Missouri; New Orleans; San Antonio; and St. Louis starting June 4, 2024. This move enhances the airline’s network within the state, providing more travel options for customers in California.
Additionally, Southwest is scheduled to provide daily nonstop service between Colorado Springs and Baltimore/Washington, further strengthening its network between the Northeast and Colorado. This new route also starts on June 4, 2024.
From its Dallas hub, Southwest will offer four additional routes, each with a schedule of one weekly frequency on Saturdays. These new routes include connections from Dallas Love Field to Buffalo/Niagara, New York; Fresno, California; Providence, Rhode Island; and Spokane, Washington.
