Springfield Aircraft Charter and Sales, based in Kansas City Downtown, has taken a significant step forward in its charter operations by adding its first Citation Excel to its Part 135-certified fleet. According to ch-aviation research, this move marks the carrier’s initial venture into operating Citation-series aircraft. The Citation Excel, registered as N11CP with manufacturer serial number 560-5245, is a 22.9-year-old jet that can accommodate up to nine passengers. Currently based at Everett, this aircraft had a notable history prior to its addition to the fleet.

Previously, the Citation Excel was operated by Erin Air since 2013 and was a key part of its operations before leaving the Part 135 fleet in July 2024. Before joining Springfield Aircraft Charter and Sales, the jet was based at Seattle Boeing Field, serving various charter missions under Erin Air’s banner. The inclusion of this Citation Excel into the Springfield fleet not only diversifies the type of aircraft available for charter but also opens new opportunities for improved scheduling and route flexibility.

Before the acquisition of the Citation Excel, Springfield Aircraft Charter’s Part 135 fleet was exclusively composed of Gulfstream Aerospace aircraft. The company operated two Gulfstream G200s, which had joined the charter fleet following the retirement of its sole GVII-G600. All three jets currently under Springfield Aircraft Charter’s Part 135 certificate were formerly operated by Erin Air, highlighting a trend of fleet evolution as the company works to modernize and expand its service offerings.

This strategic fleet enhancement is a clear indication that Springfield Aircraft Charter and Sales is focusing on broadening its operational capabilities and offering a wider range of aircraft options to meet evolving market demands. The Citation Excel is well regarded in the industry for its performance and reliability in the charter market, and its addition to the fleet is expected to enhance customer service by providing more options for groups and executive travelers. Its nine-passenger configuration is particularly attractive for charter operators looking to provide a comfortable yet efficient travel experience for small to medium-sized parties.

Furthermore, the introduction of a Citation-series aircraft into a fleet previously dominated by Gulfstream models signals Springfield Aircraft Charter’s commitment to offering versatile solutions. The Citation Excel’s proven track record in private aviation makes it an excellent candidate for meeting diverse charter needs. It is likely to attract new clientele while also reinforcing the company’s reputation for safety, efficiency, and operational excellence.

As the charter market continues to grow, operators like Springfield Aircraft Charter and Sales are seeking ways to stay competitive by diversifying their fleets. The new Citation Excel is expected to play a pivotal role in expanding the company’s network and increasing its appeal in the charter market. With its rich history and extensive service record, the Citation Excel is poised to become a workhorse for the company, providing a blend of reliability, performance, and comfort that is essential in today’s competitive aviation environment.

The addition of the Citation Excel marks a milestone in the company’s journey. It underscores Springfield Aircraft Charter and Sales’ commitment to fleet modernization and operational expansion, paving the way for further growth in the charter aviation market.
