ST Engineering to provide integrated component support to China Airlines Group’s Airbus fleet and Jeju Air

ST Engineering has announced that its Commercial Aerospace business has secured component maintenance-by-the-hour (MBHTM) contracts to support the carriers under China Airlines Group.

Under the new multi-year contracts, which have durations between seven and 12 years, ST Engineering will provide integrated component support to the Airbus A321neo and A330 aircraft belonging to national carrier, China Airlines, and the Airbus A320neo belonging to low-cost carrier, Tigerair Taiwan.

The new contracts add to an ongoing Boeing 737-800 component MBHTM programme that ST Engineering has had with China Airlines since 2010, while Tigerair Taiwan is a new customer.

Jeffrey Lam, Commercial Aerospace President at ST Engineering, said: “We thank China Airlines for once again placing their trust in us and our trademarked MBHTM programme. As China Airlines expands and renews its fleet with the A320neo and A321neo aircraft, we will leverage our strong expertise in Airbus platforms to support their operations. Jason Tsai, Vice President, Engineering Division of China Airlines, said: “ST Engineering has consistently provided high quality in safety and standards when servicing our fleet. We look forward to strengthening our partnership with ST Engineering.”

Dennis Lai, Chief Operations Officer of Tigerair Taiwan, said: “We are pleased to have this new partnership with ST Engineering. Based on this contract, Tigerair Taiwan could gain benefits from reliable support on aircraft components and parts by ST Engineering.”

A further announcement by ST Engineering revealed that its Commercial Aerospace business has secured the extension of component Maintenance-By-the-Hour (MBHTM) contracts from Jeju Air to support the airline’s Boeing 737NG and Boeing 737Max aircraft. Under the extension contracts, which will take effect on 1 January 2025, ST Engineering will continue to provide integrated component support to Jeju Air’s Boeing fleet till 2030 after the existing contracts expire.

The long-term MBHTM contract proves that Jeju Air and ST Engineering are strategic partners. We expect that the partnership between the two companies, which is strengthened in the current difficult situation, will shine even more after the pandemic situation is over.”
