Star Alliance Opens Premier Lounge in Guangzhou
Star Alliance has proudly inaugurated its first lounge in Asia at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport (CAN) in China, enhancing the travel experience for first and business class passengers. Unveiled on November 21, 2024, the new Star Alliance lounge is also accessible to gold status members flying with any member airline from Terminal 1, marking a significant milestone in the alliance’s expansion across the continent.
Strategically situated on the upper level of the existing airport lounge in the Terminal 1 international area, the 750-square-meter lounge offers a spacious and comfortable environment for up to 100 guests around the clock. This addition underscores Star Alliance’s commitment to providing seamless and luxurious travel experiences for its members, particularly in key aviation hubs like Guangzhou, which serves as a vital gateway in Asia.
“The lounges are a critical component for the effortless travel experience we aim to provide to our member airline passengers,” stated Theo Panagiotoulias, CEO of Star Alliance. “As a key strategic hub in Asia, Guangzhou serves as an important gateway for our guests. Currently, Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport is served by ten Star Alliance member airlines, including Air China, ANA, Asiana Airlines, EGYPTAIR, Ethiopian Airlines, EVA Air, Shenzhen Airlines, Singapore Airlines, THAI, and Turkish Airlines. These airlines collectively offer 774 weekly departures to 50 destinations across 10 countries, reinforcing Guangzhou’s role as a major international aviation hub.
