Start-up airline Flyr partners with Ink to adopt future-focused technologies
Norwegian start-up airline Flyr is partnering with technology solutions provider Ink to digitise its operations and provide a simplified, future-focused experience for passengers.
Flyr is adopting Ink’s cloud-hosted desktop and mobile departure control system, to deliver a more flexible operation and consistent experience for its passengers. The airline is also implementing Ink’s baggage reconciliation system as well as the Ink Turn application, which will provide greater visibility of Flyr’s aircraft turnaround performance, helping to minimise delays and reduce time spent on the ground.
Bjørn Erik Barman-Jenssen, Chief of Ground Ops & Optimisation at Flyr, says: “With the launch of our airline, our goal is to make flying as easy and sustainable as possible. For us, this means digitising the entire departure process and adopting innovative technologies that help us provide a simplified and customer-friendly offering to our passengers.
“We have built our company from the ground up, so we are free from complex legacy systems. Implementing Ink’s agile, adaptive solutions from the very beginning will support us to operate efficiently as possible as our guest base and network grows. Utilising the full Ink suite helps us interact with our guests directly, rather than hiding behind counters. In Ink, we found a partner that matches our agile and innovative company culture. This partnership enables us to contribute to the development of smart solutions that help us improve efficiency and provide a guest-friendly and convenient service.”
Shawn Richards, CEO, Ink, says: “Flyr is an incredibly exciting organisation to work with. We develop technologies that help airlines look towards a more digital future and Flyr’s values around innovation match closely with our own.”
“Our mobile technology will standardise the passenger process across Flyr’s network and minimise costs by removing the need to enter into local common-use terminal equipment contracts. It will also align with Flyr’s long term growth plans by enabling operations to be opened or closed quickly. We are proud to provide Flyr with cutting-edge technology that will support the airline to become a strong competitor when it begins operations.”
