Startup launches lightweight 60W in-seat power system

Avionics start-up, WeSky, has launched a 60W USB in-seat power system designed to enable fast charging for passengers’ PEDs, at a weight claimed to be 70% lighter than comparable products, and the same weight as 15W USB charging systems currently on the market.

The company, an EASA-approved Part 21J Design Organisation, is reporting solid demand for the systems, with Marius Barcas, WeSky’s head of sales stating, “Based on our current sales activities and request for proposals we are forecasting and already negotiating orders for over US$20 million in revenue of recharge in-seat power systems within the next 24 months.”

WeSky recently secured additional funding from USA-based Notarc Investment Partners in order to ramp-up production of its current product line while also expanding research and development of new avionics equipment.
