A new survey conducted by Talker Research for Apple Vacations finds that many Americans value familiarity and comfort when choosing vacation destinations, with repeat travel emerging as a major trend. According to the findings, nearly 30 percent of respondents said they return to the same destination year after year, often treating it as a second home. On average, these travelers have visited their favorite vacation spot about five times.

The study highlights that familiarity offers travelers a sense of ease and predictability, especially when it comes to accommodations, dining options, and local activities. Families who enjoy theme parks also showed a strong preference for revisiting the same attractions each year, citing convenience, tradition, and family bonding as major motivations.

In contrast, travelers who favor road trips were found to be more adventurous, preferring to explore new destinations rather than revisiting familiar ones. This group expressed a desire for spontaneity, variety, and the thrill of discovering hidden gems.

Apple Vacations noted that repeat travel behavior reflects both emotional connection and practicality. Familiar destinations often eliminate the stress of planning, making it easier for travelers to unwind and maximize their vacation time.

Overall, the survey reveals that while some Americans crave new experiences, many continue to find comfort and joy in returning to beloved destinations—proving that, for a large share of travelers, the best vacation is one that feels like coming home.
