Survey Shows Travelers Feel Behind on Travel Goals

A new study commissioned by Scenic Group, the parent of Emerald Cruises and Scenic Luxury Cruises & Tours, has found that many Americans feel they aren’t traveling as much as they would like, leading to a phenomenon researchers call “travel dysmorphia.”

According to the survey, 69 percent of Americans believe they have not seen enough of the world, with 41 percent doubting they’ll ever reach their travel goals. One in three respondents admitted to dissatisfaction with their lack of travel, while nearly one in five even reported feeling embarrassed about it. By contrast, only 10 percent said they feel a sense of accomplishment in having met their personal travel milestones.

The study highlights several barriers keeping people from traveling more: 31 percent said they don’t know where they’ll go next, while time constraints, financial concerns, and decision fatigue were also key obstacles. Despite this, 72 percent of respondents acknowledged the positive effect travel has on their emotional well-being.

To address the issue, Scenic Group has introduced the Living List Pass, available in limited numbers through December 31, 2025. The pass provides bundled access to luxury cruises and tours across several years for a fixed price. Options range from the Explorer Pass at $44,000 for three trips to the Legacy Pass at $240,000 for ten trips, covering river cruises, ocean sailings, and land journeys.

Scenic Group says the program is designed to remove the stress of planning while helping travelers turn aspirations into reality.
