SWISS adds new Michelin-starred names to inflight dining

Since December 2002, Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) has been offering its first, business and premium economy class travellers on long-haul flights a taste of Switzerland’s finest dining. Every three months a new Michelin-starred and GaultMillau-point top chef is invited to present dishes representing their region (canton) of Switzerland, with a focus on seasonal specialities.

75 guest chefs have participated to date, and the latest partnership is with the five-star Baur au Lac hotel, located beside Lake Zurich, with chefs Laurent Eperon and Maximilian Müller from the hotel’s Pavillon gourmet restaurant providing culinary delights.

For the next three months, the two chefs de cuisine from the two-Michelin-star and 18- GaultMillau-point Pavillon restaurant will be treating SWISS’s premium travellers on long-haul services from Switzerland to their modern interpretation of French haute cuisine, with a Zurich twist.

“High quality combined with top-notch service are becoming more and more important to more and more people,” stated Laurent Eperon. “At the Baur au Lac we’ve been providing both for over 175 years now. So we’re especially pleased to have the opportunity, through our team-up with SWISS, to offer this experience to guests beyond our hotel, too.”

Travellers in Premium Economy Class on SWISS flights from Switzerland will also be offered an inflight menu inspired by regional culinary specialities of the Zurich canton.

The meals are also accompanied by wine and cheese specialities from the region.
