Two Swiss innovators, the Switzerland SailGP Team and electric aviation company H55, have announced a new collaboration to explore clean and energy-saving technologies. The partnership, revealed in Geneva on September 15, brings together leaders from competitive sailing and electric propulsion to share expertise and drive sustainable innovation.

Led on the water by three-time Olympian Sébastien Schneiter, the Switzerland SailGP Team competes in the global SailGP championship, a league where sport, technology, and sustainability intersect. H55, co-founded by Solar Impulse pioneer André Borschberg, develops certified electric propulsion and battery management systems aimed at revolutionizing air travel.

By combining insights from high-performance sailing and electric aviation, the initiative seeks to identify practical solutions that reduce emissions, save energy, and scale up renewable technologies. Both organizations aim to inspire industries, governments, and the public with tangible pathways to a more sustainable future.

Borschberg emphasized that SailGP teams and H55 share the ambition of making mobility cleaner and more efficient by advancing renewable energy technologies. Switzerland’s strong research institutions and innovative ecosystem provide a powerful foundation for this mission. Schneiter added that partnering with H55 is a natural fit, reflecting shared values in pushing boundaries of performance and sustainability.

This first step marks the beginning of a longer-term journey, with further details on the partnership to be announced in the coming months. Together, the Switzerland SailGP Team and H55 hope to showcase Swiss excellence and leadership in clean technology and sustainable innovation.
