Switzerland flag carrier SWISS has taken delivery of its first Airbus A320neo featuring a new, innovative “Airspace” cabin concept.

The carrier’s first two A320neos equipped with the new cabin will enter revenue service this month and feature slimmer sidewall panels for extra personal space at shoulder level, better views through the windows with their redesigned bezels, and completely integrated window shades.

The cabin also has overhead bins that provide substantially more space for bags and features the latest full LED lighting technologies, LED-lit “entrance area” and new lavatories with hygienic touchless features and antimicrobial surfaces.

SWISS operates several Airbus aircraft types, including the Airbus A220 and A320 on its European network and A330 and A340 aircraft globally.

SWISS Chief Commercial Officer, Tamur Goudarzi Pour, said: “As a premium air carrier, we continue to strive to offer our customers the highest possible quality standards, even in the present crisis times.

“Airbus’s advanced and innovative new Airspace cabin concept for our short-haul travellers is making a key contribution to all these endeavours.

“We are truly pleased to be able to offer our customers even greater in-flight comfort in the form of more space for their carry-on baggage and a new lighting concept that is specifically tailored to their biorhythm needs.”

According to Airbus, the A320neo provides operators with 20% reduction in fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. The A320neo Family had received nearly 7,900 orders from over 120 customers worldwide by the end of December 2021.
