Taiwan’s Eva Airways orders five Boeing 787s in $1.8 billion deal

Taiwan’s Eva Airways said on Monday Mar. 13 it would purchase five Boeing 787 widebody planes worth $1.78 billion at list prices.

EVA Air currently operates a fleet of 10 787s, including four 787-9s and six 787-10s. With the new order, EVA Air has unfilled orders for seven 787-10s and nine 787-9s.

The airline also flies Airbus A330-200/-300, Airbus A321, Boeing 777-300ER, and ATR 72 (operated by UNI Air) airliners primarily used on passenger routes, along with Boeing 777-200LRF cargo and in 2025 777-300ER/SF converted freighter aircraft used on cargo routes.

Taiwan’s other major carrier, China Airlines, agreed to buy 16 787 widebody planes last August to replace its ageing fleet of Airbus A330s. Reuters.com & AirGuide Business
