TAP Air Portugal is enhancing its footprint in Brazil with plans to reintroduce flights to Manaus-Eduardo Gomes International Airport (MAO), marking its return to a destination it last served eight years ago. Starting from November 4, TAP will operate flights from Lisbon Airport (LIS) to MAO with a stop in Belem, Brazil, which is already part of its network. The service will run three times a week using an Airbus A321neo aircraft, offering passengers a seamless one-stop journey.

MAO will become TAP’s 13th destination in Brazil, with 11 cities exclusively connected to Lisbon. This expansion underscores TAP’s commitment to the Brazilian market, alongside its existing routes to São Paulo/Guarulhos and Rio de Janeiro/Galeão airports from LIS and Porto.

In addition to the MAO route, TAP is set to launch new service between LIS and Florianopolis in southern Brazil starting September 3. This route will operate three times weekly using an A330-200 aircraft configured to accommodate 269 passengers, including 25 business class seats.

According to TAP CEO Luís Rodrigues, Brazil holds strategic importance for the airline, and the reintroduction of the Manaus route reflects their ongoing investment in expanding operations within the country. Rodrigues also hinted at further route expansions, suggesting that TAP aims to operate at least 15 routes to Brazil by the year’s end, marking a historic high for the airline’s Brazilian network.
