Tennis Australia renews broadcast agreement Australian Open at sunset

Tennis Australia has renewed its broadcast partnership for the Australian Open with Sport 24 for a further three years. Sport 24 is a 24/7 live sports channel for the airline and cruise line industries and is owned by IMG.

The 2022 Australian Open will take place from 17-30 January at Melbourne Park. The tournament is supported by Australian Open major partner Kia in association with Emirates, Luzhou Laojiao and Rolex.

Richard Wise, SVP, Content and Channels, IMG’s media business, said: “As the first grand slam of the year, the Australian Open is always a must-see event for tennis and sports fans alike. We very much value our long-standing partnership with Tennis Australia and are delighted to have extended the relationship for a further three years, which in turn is good news for passengers for the next couple of weeks and the following two years.”

Following the renewal of the agreement, Sport 24 and its sister channel Sport 24 Extra – which have had a relationship with the event for more than 10 years – will now continue to connect travellers around the world with the Australian Open (AO), providing more than 150 hours of live coverage per year.

The agreement also includes AO lead-in events and AO originals programmes for passengers on select airlines and ships throughout the year.

Australian Open tournament director Craig Tiley said: “We are excited to renew our partnership with Sport 24 and to be able to bring the drama and excitement of all the action here at Melbourne Park to fans travelling across the globe, wherever they might be.”
