Tern Raises $13M to Streamline Travel Advisor Workflows with AI

Tern, a travel advisor platform launched in 2023, has secured $13 million in Series A funding to enhance its AI-driven tools and address key inefficiencies in the travel advisor workflow. The round was led by Viewpoint Ventures and Haystack VC, with continued backing from Upfront Ventures, which previously led an unannounced $4 million seed round.
CEO David Shull said the platform was created to eliminate the “invisible work” that slows advisors down—such as quoting, copy-pasting, and switching between tools. The new capital will support deeper AI integrations, improved payment capabilities, onboarding enhancements, and expanded seven-day support.
Tern’s platform is already used by over 5,000 advisors and 1,000 agencies. New features include agentic AI for auto-importing trip content, one-click invoices, AI-generated destination guides and packing lists, and a Trip Activity View tool. Advisors also gain access to custom branding, organized content templates, and an upgraded forms product for easier data collection.
The company’s vision is to empower, not replace, advisors. “For too long travel advisors have been underserved by technology,” said Nick Kim of Upfront Ventures. “We’re all-in on building the best platform in the world for them.”
