Thai AirAsia inks A320 sale and lease-backs
Thai AirAsia (FD, Bangkok Don Mueang) has entered into sale/lease-back transactions for seven A320-200s and has also leased one additional aircraft of the type, parent Asia Aviation Public Limited Company said in a stock market filing.
The low-cost carrier sold four A320-200s to Sky Aero Management for a total consideration of USD101.25 million and will lease them back for 6-7 years for a total of USD79.19 million in lease rates. A further three aircraft will be sold to Avolon for USD67.3 million and leased back for the same period for USD43.42 million. Thai AirAsia will lease the added A320-200 for six years from Avolon for a further USD8.88 million.
All transactions will be completed by the end of the first quarter of 2022.
The ch-aviation fleets ownership module shows Thai AirAsia owns ten A320-200s. It did not identify any of the aircraft involved in the transaction. The LCC dry leases a further thirty-five A320-200s, as well as eleven A320-200Ns and two A321-200Ns. It does not currently lease any aircraft from Sky Aero, but Avolon is its largest aircraft supplier – it owns seven A320ceo and five A320neo operated by Thai AirAsia.
