Thai Airways International (TG, Bangkok Suvarnabhumi) is preparing for significant fleet and network expansion as it aims to exit court-supervised rehabilitation and relist on the Stock Exchange of Thailand in the first half of 2025, administrator Piyasvasti Amranand told Bloomberg.

The airline recently completed a THB 76 billion (USD 2.26 billion) capital restructuring, including a debt-to-equity swap and share issuance, strengthening its financial position and enabling a return to aggressive growth.

By 2027, Thai Airways plans to expand its fleet from 79 to 143 aircraft, reducing aircraft types for operational efficiency. The future fleet will include:

  • 23 Boeing 777-300ERs
  • 21 Airbus A350-900s
  • 44 Boeing 787s
  • 52 A320neo family aircraft
  • 3 A330-300s (to be phased out by 2033)

Thai Airways has signed contracts for 45 Boeing 787-9s (with options for 35 more) and 32 Airbus A321neos from lessors.

Currently, the airline serves 66 airports in 30 countries and has resumed flights to Brussels National, alongside increased frequencies across Asia to support long-haul traffic. It operates double daily flights to London Heathrow, Frankfurt, Sydney, and Melbourne, with daily service to major European and Asian destinations.

With a modernized fleet and expanding route network, Thai Airways is positioning itself for strong post-recovery growth in international markets.
