VRetreats is the new hotel brand by VOIhotels, targeted to the luxury segment of the Italian and international market. The collection is dedicated to lovers of Italian art, history and culture, which is appreciated all over the world: our aim is to have 12 facilities in three years and redesign the concept of luxury, no longer an end in itself, but as a key to accessing the beauty of our country.

Italy has always been known and admired for its savoir-vivre, its beautiful landscapes and the invaluable historical and cultural heritage that pervades the entire territory. It is from this awareness that VOIhotels has created VRetreats, a selection of historic and charming resorts in Italy for the national and international luxury segment.

In the most difficult time for tourism, it is essential to continue betting on Italy and its potential to attract visitors: this vision has guided the creation of the VRetreats project, whose name combines the “V” of VOIhotels with “Retreats”, a word that expresses the brand’s philosophy and deepest identity, the key to accessing an intimate and exclusive world, never uniform or impersonal, interwoven with history, art and culture.

The retreats have been selected for their personality and peculiarities, aspects that VRetreats heightens, enhancing the nature of the original facilities: they are oases of beauty with an important past and embellished by cloisters, internal gardens and terraces where guests can reconnect with themselves and the surrounding place. The project aims to have 12 boutique hotels in three years, in iconic Italian locations, even off the beaten tracks. There are currently four, and they are located in Rome, Venice and Taormina.

In Rome, in a secluded corner of Trastevere and a few steps from the Janiculum Hill, stands the Donna Camilla Savelli hotel, a seventeenth-century jewel and former convent, designed by Francesco Borromini: it is a building of sober elegance, converted into a small hotel thanks to careful restoration, which has enhanced its architecture and atmosphere. Inside, several historical and artistic traces blend harmoniously with the details of furnishings and style. The terrace overlooking Rome and the internal garden are spaces in which guests can enjoy the atmosphere of the hotel, which has been awarded several times in international kermesses, the winner of the famous TV program “4 Hotels” hosted by Bruno Barbieri and film set of “To Rome with love” by Woody Allen.

In the splendid setting of Taormina, in the most exclusive part of Sicily and a strategic point for exploring the island, stand the Mazzarò Sea Palace and the Atlantis Bay hotels. The two five-star hotels overlook the Bay of Sirens, offer an incomparably charming view and have private access to the sea. They have a special architecture thanks to their position, in close contact with the context and in a continuum with the bay: built on the cliff, they develop like an ancient fishing village, set between the sky and the earth. Their peculiar large terraces offer enchanting views from the rooms, restaurants and shared areas.

The latest addition (opening soon) is the Ca’ di Dio hotel, a five-star hotel in the heart of Venice designed by international architect and designer Patricia Urquiola. Located on the waterfront of the same name, in the Arsenale area, known as the “Contemporary Art District”, the hotel is strongly connected to the fabric of the city, clearly recognizable in the facility’s materials, colors, finishes and inspirations. Local artisans have contributed to the furnishings with fabrics, glass and other refined details that aim to enhance Venetian privacy and elegance, showing the authentic soul of Ca’ di Dio. The project will bring new life to the historic residence, built in the 16th century by architect Jacopo Sansovino along the Riva degli Schiavoni: the renovation includes the entire property and will result in 66 rooms, two restaurants, an exclusive spa, as well as the typical internal courtyard-gardens and two splendid altane, typical Venetian terraces, overlooking the lagoon and the rooftops of the city.

Paolo Terrinoni, VOIhotels CEO, comments: “VRetreats is a strategic development plan for VOIhotels but also, and above all, for our country. It was a project we had been working on for some time and, after such a difficult year, the urgency of investing in unconventional Italian beauty has become even more acute. This collection with an international vocation, consistent in its philosophy and never homologated, will be our goal for the coming years: luxury hotels in iconic and multi-faceted locations, to experience authentic, innovative and impeccable hospitality.”
