Cruise travelers are being urged to double-check their upcoming itineraries after a major cruise line canceled 41 scheduled sailings. The affected cruises span multiple dates, impacting passengers with bookings through 2025.

Holland America Line announced the cancellation of voyages aboard the Volendam, citing the vessel’s upcoming charter agreement. The ship has been secured for a long-term private charter between early 2025 and mid-2026. As a result, 41 sailings scheduled between January 4, 2025, and December 20, 2025, have been removed from the cruise line’s schedule.

Guests with affected bookings are being contacted directly by Holland America Line or their travel advisors. Impacted passengers can either receive a full refund or opt for rebooking assistance on a different ship or itinerary. The cruise line is also offering incentives for those who choose to reschedule, including bonus onboard credit.

Holland America emphasized its commitment to supporting guests through the unexpected change and stated that customer service teams are available to help travelers explore alternative options. The cruise line has not disclosed the exact nature of the charter agreement but confirmed it is unrelated to government or housing contracts, such as those seen during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Travelers planning a voyage with Holland America Line in 2025 should review their itineraries and confirm all sailing details. With cancellations affecting several popular destinations in Europe and the Caribbean, early rebooking is recommended.

The Volendam is expected to return to regular service in early 2026 following the conclusion of the charter period.
