TOLL Group Wins 15-Year Contract for SAR and Medevac Services in South Australia

TOLL Group, operating under the banner of Team Global Express (TFX), formerly known as Toll Aviation, has secured a significant 15-year contract with the South Australian government. Announced in a press statement on March 5, 2025, the contract entails providing a fleet of eight specialized aircraft for various critical services including policing, search and rescue (SAR), and aeromedical operations.
Under this new agreement, TOLL Group will equip the South Australian Police with two Bell 429 helicopters and two fixed-wing aircraft, specifically a Pilatus PC-12 and a Cessna 208EX Caravan. For the South Australia MedSTAR Ambulance Service, TOLL will provide three AgustaWestland AW139 helicopters and an additional PC-12. This latter PC-12, sourced from the Royal Flying Doctor Service (South Australia and Northern Territory), will feature an intensive care unit interior, a rear patient-loading door, and an integrated stretcher loading system to enhance medical response capabilities.
The scheduled rollout for these aircraft is set for late 2026 and 2027, with fixed-wing aircraft joining the fleet from November 2026 and helicopters from October 2027.
In a move to bolster operational effectiveness, TOLL Group is also collaborating with the Royal Flying Doctor Service to offer specialized training. This training program, aimed at members of the South Australia Ambulance Service, South Australia Police Service, and Gunggandji Aerospace through the Indigenous Defence and Infrastructure Consortium, will include access to advanced simulation technology. Trainees will benefit from flight simulators, cabin trainers, extended reality crew procedural trainers, and advanced mission systems that are crucial for surveillance, search and rescue, and medical transport operations.
This partnership highlights TOLL Group’s commitment to enhancing public safety and healthcare services through innovative aviation solutions and specialized training programs, supporting the critical work of South Australia’s emergency services.
