When it comes to air travel, delays and cancellations can be a major hassle. To help travelers plan ahead, InsureMyTrip researchers analyzed flight data from the Department of Transportation (DOT) for the first quarter of 2023. Here are the top airports that experienced the highest percentage of delays and cancellations:

Top 10 Airports with Highest Delays:

  2. Harry Reid International (Las Vegas, NV)
  3. San Francisco International (San Francisco, CA)
  4. Palm Beach International (Palm Beach, FL)
  5. Official Kahului Airport (Maui, HI)
  6. Lihue Airport (Kauai, HI)
  7. Luis Muñoz Marín International (San Juan, PR)
  8. Fort Lauderdale – Hollywood International (Fort Lauderdale, FL)
  9. Orlando International (Orlando, FL)
  10. San Diego International (San Diego, CA)

These airports, known for their high passenger volumes, experienced the most delays during the analyzed period.

  1. Dallas Love Field (Dallas, TX)
  2. Dallas/Fort Worth International (Dallas, TX)
  3. Chicago Midway International (Chicago, IL)
  4. Milwaukee Mitchell International (Milwaukee, WI)
  5. Minneapolis – Saint Paul International (Minneapolis-Saint Paul, MN)
  6. Hollywood Burbank Airport (Burbank, CA)
  7. Austin – Bergstrom International (Austin, TX)
  8. Denver International (Denver, CO)
  9. Portland International (Portland, OR)
  10. Logan International (Boston, MA)

Surprisingly, Milwaukee ranked high in cancellations, while Dallas and Chicago, being major hubs for Southwest Airlines and American Airlines, experienced significant disruptions.
