What’s Your Sign? Using the Zodiac To Choose Your Destination
One needn’t actually ride in a Zodiac to harness the power of their astrology chart to pick a destination that best suits them in 2023. With some of the top attributes of your sun sign as our guide (bearing in mind everyone’s actual chart can vary significantly from the attributes of their sun sign), we’ve collected a list of top destinations for each zodiac sign to explore.

Aries: Cape Town, South Africa
Bold, confident Aries appreciates variety and Cape Town has it in abundance. With the bold, imposing backdrop of Table Mountain, South Africa’s diverse culture, and the contrasting textures of ocean, mountain, and the nearby wine country – this fascinating city at the southern tip of Africa has much to offer. Think wine-tasting and world-class cuisine in the evenings, and then waking up early to commune with penguins at Boulders Beach.

Taurus: Paris, France
It may be one of the most visited cities in the world, but for luxury-loving Taurus, that’s the entire point. The city’s renown in the culinary, arts, fasion, and architecture worlds hit all the right notes. From classy cocktails at swanky hotel bars to sophisticated cabaret shows and shops overflowing with the world’s finest luxury goods, the City of Light is made for Taureans to spend their travel budgets.

Gemini: Dublin, Ireland
Social, fun-loving Gemini won’t find any shortage of amusement in the Irish capital. Perhaps it’s the Irish affinity of striking up friendly conversation or the diversity of interests, Gemini is here for it. Lovers of the tipple can explore whiskey distilling at Teeling Distillery or the Guinness Storehouse, while literature nerds can track the same path across the city as Leopold Bloom from the James Joyce novel Ulysses, on Bloomsday, every June 16 (during Gemini season) dedicated to his honor.

Cancer: Copenhagen, Denmark
Comfort, privacy, relaxation, and family time: the touchstones for Cancer are also those for the Danish tradition of hygge, or cozy conviviality. In any season, Copenhagen is noted for the Tivoli Gardens, engineered for amusement in any season, numerous art galleries and museums, and the intimate shops, cafes, and restaurants lining the canal at Nyhavn.

Leo: Los Angeles, California
Leo craves attention, and there’s no better place to seek it than L.A. Although “Hollywood” is now more of a state of mind than the real epicenter of the film industry (more production actually takes place in nearby Burbank), Los Angeles still boasts a non-stop creator culture that Leo will love. Wander through the backdrop of a Kardashian reality show or seek internet fame with a perfectly-shot selfie in front of the city’s most famous and Insta-famous landmarks, like the influencer-favorite Pink Wall on Melrose Ave.

Virgo: Fiji Islands
Self-effacing, ever-thinking Virgo can unwind and unplug in Fiji, in the South Pacific, where a sandy beach at a luxury resort proves the perfect antidote to unplugging and relaxing. They’ll also find kinship among Fijians, who are noted for sympathy, kindness, and gracious hospitality to visitors, whether it’s sharing traditions like cooking in a traditional lovo oven or showing industrious Virgo how to try their hand at local crafts.

Libra: Vancouver, British Columbia
Libra seeks balance, and loves orderly, aesthetically pleasing destinations. Enter Vancouver, balancing the best attributes of its fantastical surroundings, where visitors can ski Grouse Mountain or sun (all of) themselves at Wreck Beach – the largest clothing-optional beach in North America. They’ll balance the cosmopolitan cityscape with the expansive acreage of Stanley Park, where old-growth spruce trees grow in thick forest, irrespective of the urban bustle just steps away, or the European character of the city’s development with sentinel First Nations totem poles guarding the harbor.

Scorpio: Taormina, Sicily
Scorpio is obsessive, emotional, sexually charged, secretive, tempramental, moody, and loyal. Is it us, or does that sound like Italy? Do as thousands of The White Lotus fans have done and check out Sicily’s San Domenico Palace, where all the living out loud (hopefully more tame than the hit series) is cooled by daily dips in the Ionian Sea and fired by the specter of nearby Mount Etna – one of the world’s most active volcanoes.

Sagittarius: Wellington, New Zealand
Fair-minded, travel-loving Sagittarius will find plenty to love about Wellington’s cerebral, vibrant culture. Designated UNESCO’s City of Film, visitors can explore film locations on numerous tours when they’re not busy taking in the city’s breathtaking natural environs. Intellectual Sagittarius might love the national museum Te Papa, or Zealandia, a bird sanctuary where many residents are endemic – found only in New Zealand. Wellington also appeals to optimistic, freedom-loving Sagittarius as the capital of a famously egalitarian, environmentally-conscious nation.

Capricorn: Mexico City, Mexico
Hardworking Capricorn will admire the fruits of Mexico City’s denizens – industrious since the Pre-Columbian era when the ancient city of Tenochtitlan was the magnificent Aztec capital built astride a mountain lake. Today, centuries of cross-civilizational influence are present in this, North America’s most populated city, where visitors can admire Diego Rivera murals at the Presidential Palace, learn about Mexico’s rich indigenous heritage at the National Anthropological Museum, or visit the Aztec pyramids in nearby Teotihuacán.

Aquarius: Portland, Oregon
Progressive, Independent, and Idealistic Aquarius may feel at home in The Rose City, where local residents seem to delight in going against the grain in pursuit of a better world. This water sign will enjoy the energy of the Willamette River and the abundance of green spaces in the city’s close-in environs, including the famed Washington Park, with the noted International Rose Test Garden, Children’s Museum, and The Oregon Zoo. Bookworms will find over a million titles at Powell’s City of Books, where new and used titles are freely mixed on the shelves.

Pisces: Kyoto, Japan
Intuitive, art-loving Pisces will love the aesthetic of Kyoto, a city all but dedicated to the aesthete, from the traditional, choreographed hospitality experience at a traditional ryokan Japanese-style inn, to numerous painstakingly maintained shrines, temples, and outdoor gardens. Kyoto’s entertainment districts are also home to geisha, reputed first and foremost to be leading artists in refined entertainment.
