Top Advisors Tee Off in Sandals Golf Tourney in Jamaica
Agents Return to Sandals Golf Event
Sandals’ 18th Annual USA Travel Advisor Golf Tournament kicked off Saturday night with an outdoor dinner at Sandals Ochi Beach Resort in Ocho Rios, Jamaica. After site inspections on Sunday, golfers teed off Monday and Tuesday morning at Sandals Golf & Country Club, playing an 18-hole scramble each day. Sister companies TravelPulse and AGENTatHOME were proud to serve as media sponsors for the event.
The Gracious Host
Most players agreed the golf course was in great shape. A fire in July 2021 damaged the clubhouse, but a newer version is under construction now. What really added to the fun were the caddies that accompanied each twosome. They rode on the back of the carts and offered advice, showed the putting line to the hole, and amazingly found wildly errant balls.
Golf Specialists
The Quimbys, married 25 years, operate a travel agency that specializes in group travel, including golf tournament trips all over the world.
Ready for Round 2
At the awards banquet, Fisher took home the prize for ladies’ longest drive, while Weaver was acknowledged for her creative social media posts from the event.
Colleagues Catch Up
The days on the links were hot, but Sandals provided golfers with cold water, Red Stripe beer and Jamaican beef and chicken patties along the way.
Beautiful Foliage
The golf course offers some beautiful examples of Jamaican foliage, such as this tree with bright orange flowers (a poinciana). We also plucked and tasted a ripe Jamaican guava on the course and drove by an ackee tree, which grows Jamaica’s national fruit.
Lights, Camera, Action!
The Sandals golf tournament was a major event in Jamaica, especially after a three-year hiatus, so several local media outlets attended, some covering the daily results like they would a PGA tournament.
Taking a Swing
The final party was held on the sand at Ochi Beach Club. Sandals took the opportunity to show advisors how weddings could be held on the sand, complete with decorated table settings. Linda Hyde tried a floral-entwined swing.
A Very Successful Tournament
The golf tourney closed with a festive banquet. The event was such a success—even the weather cooperated. Though storms were predicted for each day, the weather held off in favor of sun temperatures in the high 80s. For golfers interested in playing the Sandals Golf and Country Club, the 18-hole course rises 700 feet above sea level in the hills of Ocho Rios. The resort-style course has three sets of tees and plays to 6,404 yards, par 71, and offers sweeping views of the sea and mountains.
