As 2022 comes to an end and 2023 begins, it’s time to take a peek at some of the most-anticipated new hotels and resorts opening in Europe in 2023, from glitzy boutiques in grand European capitals to secluded and sustainable resorts nestled in hidden-away locales. The Bracken Hide
Opening in late March 2023 is The Bracken Hide, located on the historic Isle of Skye in Scotland. A combination of luxury wilderness cabins and a modern luxury hotel, this accomodation offers 45 cabins, the Hub, which includes the restaurant, whiskey bar, lounge and common areas, Nordic saunas and a plunge pool and pond. Guests at The Bracken Hide will be immersed in the wilderness of the Isle of Skye, and can enjoy beautiful vistas of the Cullin Hills or the Sound of Raasay.
Mollie’s Manchester
Opening late 2023 is Mollie’s Manchester, an affordable and fun “budget-luxe” accommodation and diner concept located within the historic Old Granada TV Studios. Retro vibes and affordable accommodations typify the Mollie’s brand, and travelers can enjoy 130 rooms in a variety of styles, from family-centric models to studio or bunk rooms. The seven-floor hotel will offer a diner, cocktail bar and entertainment space, lounge bar, deli, private workspace and heated outdoor terrace.
Almanac X Prague
Luxury Austrian hotel group Almanac Hotels is opening the Almanac X Prague hotel in January. Formerly the site of Alcron, a Prague landmark hotel, the hotel is totally revitalized to offer the brand’s luxury ethos, featuring 204 rooms and suites. The dining offers local flavors and locally sourced foods, while the hotel also includes a rooftop terrace, a coffee shop, boutique and is within walking distance to the historic Wenceslas Square.
Almanac Palais Vienna
Almanac is opening the Almanac Palais Vienna hotel in the capital of classical music in February 2023. Formed from two different palais in the heart of Vienna, the 111-room hotel will offer a glam-luxe style with ample public spaces for socializing, including a restaurant focusing on plant-based Alpine cuisine. The hotel will also feature a specialty coffee shop, a spa, an indoor pool and a golden circular bar offering the best of Austria’s libations.
Hôtel Dame des Arts
Located within Paris’s Rive Gauche Quartier des Arts & des Lettres, the Hôtel Dame des Arts will offer 109 rooms in a signature artistic flair that harkens back to the quarter’s arts and culture movement, which welcomed big names like Picasso, Hemingway, Chanel and the Fitzgeralds. The hotel will feature a rooftop bar, a restaurant and plenty of character for any true Paris-lover to enjoy when it officially opens in the beginning of 2023. P.S: the hotel also offers rooms with private terraces featuring views of the Eiffel Tower!
Viceroy at Ombria Resort Algarve
Expected to open in the summer, Viceroy at Ombria Resort in Algarve, Portugal is the first Viceroy property in Southern Europe and will offer 76 rooms and suites, along with 65 residences, an 18-hole golf course, kid’s club, pool and spa, as well as eco-centric experiences, such as an organic farm, beekeeping area, a beach and plenty of wilderness to enjoy with walks or other activities.
Paradisus Gran Canaria
Opening in January 2023 is the first of the brand’s two resorts in Las Palmas in the Canary Islands: Meliá’s Paradisus Gran Canaria. The family-friendly luxury resort will offer a “destination inclusive” format which allows for an all-inclusive resort experience while also offering every opportunity for resort-goers to explore the culture of the Canary Islands. The resort will also feature a resort-within-a-resort just for adults, called The Retreat, which includes signature dining and accommodation experiences.
Paradisus Salinas
Opening in March is the second Paradisus resort in the Canaries, though this time, it’s located on the UNESCO-designated Geopark island of Lanzarote. Paradisus Salinas offers an adults-only, sustainable stay designed by renowned architect Fernando Higueras. With a nature-inspired pool, plenty of dining experiences, the opportunity for guided tours to some of Lanzarote’s most impressive attractions and its own higher tier of accommodation type, this is one resort that offers something for everyone.
Palazzo Cordusio, a Gran Meliá Hotel
Palazzo Cordusio, a Gran Meliá Hotel will open during the latter half of 2023 and will be located within the Palazzo Venezia, one of the most iconic buildings in Milan, Italy. While preserving the grand building’s culture and history, the new hotel will also offer an elevated accommodation option in the heart of Milan’s history for travelers to enjoy, with 84 different rooms designed in a chic, modern style.
The Bo Vue Hotel Bodrum, Curio Collection by Hilton
A stunning new development along the stories Aegean Sea is The Bo Vue Hotel Bodrum, a Curio Collection by Hilton hotel. This modern hotel boasts great access to some of the region’s archaeological and historical sites, like the Mausoleum of Halicarnassus or the Bodrum Castle, as well as views of the sea. It features 102 rooms and suites, inclluding accessible options, three restaurants, a spa and indoor and outdoor pools. It is expected to open in spring.
Hilton Heidelberg
Located on the River Neckar in Heidelberg, Germany is another spring debut: the Hilton Heidelberg. With a modern yet timeless design, this hotel offers 244 rooms, spacious event venues for meetings for both business and pleasure, as well as a German restaurant, yet its location within the historic part of Old Heidelberg is one of its biggest draws: it’s within walking distance of the Heidelberg Castle and the seasonal Christmas Markets.
The Peninsula Istanbul
Opening on Valentine’s Day 2023 is part of a new riverfront revitalization project: The Peninsula Istanbul, located along the scenic Bosphorus. The hotel comprises three protected heritage buildings: the lobby was once a ferry terminal, and still pays homage to its original purpose in its design. The other buildings feature a stunning classical design that harkens back to Istanbul’s past, while the hotel itself offers 177 guestrooms and suites, a Turkish spa, landscaped gardens, a pool right on the edge of the river and two dining areas.
Sainte-Anne Hotel Dijon, Curio Collection by Hilton
Revitalizing a historic hospice in the heart of Dijon, France is the Curio Collection by Hilton property, the Sainte-Anne Hotel Dijon, in the summer of 2023. Located within a 17th century building, yet bearing a modern design, the city in the aptly called gastronomic capital boasts 125 rooms and suites that recall the city’s wine-making history. The hotel also features outdoor terraces, a swimming pool, fitness center and spa, as well as a wine bar and fine dining restaurant. Located within the city’s medieval center, guests can enjoy staying within a UNESCO World Heritage Site and visiting the many historic attractions on display just a quick walk from their accommodation.
Legacy Hotel Cascais, Curio Collection by Hilton
Opening this summer 2023, the Legacy Hotel Cascais will offer 59 guestrooms with many offering beautiful views of Cascais’ beaches. The Comodo
Located in the spa village of Bad Gastein in scenic Austria is a modern Alpine retreat, The Comodo. Swissôtel Tbilisi
Opening in the middle of the year, the Swissôtel Tbilisi is the first of the brand to enter the country of Georgia, and is located in the center of the capital city’s picturesque Old Town. The hotel features modern appointed rooms, a rooftop restaurant and bar with views of the city’s skyline and a strategic location within walking distance to three city parks, the House of Parliament and the National Gallery.
Pullman Okol Resort Golf & Spa
The Pullman Okol Resort Golf & Spa will open in the middle of the year along the picturesque Iskar Lake in Bulgaria, only a short car ride away from the city of Sofia. It’s part of the new OKOL Lake Park development and will offer gorgeous views of the lake, along with plentiful nature activities, with 140 rooms and 40 branded residences for those wanting to enjoy the lake life a little longer. Like its name suggests, it’ll also feature a golf course and spa.
City of Dreams Mediterranean
The City of Dreams Mediterranean is Europe’s first integrated resort and will open in spring 2023 on the sunny Mediterranean island of Cyprus. A short ride away from Limassol, the resort will feature 500 rooms, a full-scale casino, multiple dining options, Adventure Park, pool and water park, fitness center, spa, event and meeting spaces and much more.
La Fantaisie
Like its name suggests, La Fantaisie is going to take Paris’s whimsical side for a joy-ride, with colorful floral motifs and charming decor more reminiscent of a country cottage than a city escape. The five-star hotel features a gorgeous garden, a rooftop bar, garden-centric spa and more, all within the heart of the 9th arrondissement.
Mandarin Oriental Mayfair
Located in historic Hanover Square in Mayfair, London is a spring 2023 debut: the luxury Mandarin Oriental Mayfair. With 50 rooms and 76 residences, the luxury hotel will offer a restaurant spearheaded by a Michelin-starred chef, an urban spa and beautifully designed public spaces befitting London’s most fashion-forward neighborhoods.
