Transavia France, operating from Paris Orly, has expanded its fleet with the introduction of its first Airbus A320-200neo. This marks a significant shift for the airline as it begins transitioning from an exclusively Boeing fleet. The new aircraft, registered as F-GNEO (msn 11918), arrived at Paris Orly on January 10, 2024, following its ferry flight from Toulouse Blagnac.

Leased from Avolon, this A320neo is equipped with CFM International LEAP-1A engines and features a single-class configuration with 186 seats. The aircraft’s inaugural scheduled flight took off on January 15, serving the Paris Orly to Porto route.

The French civil aviation registry records show that F-GNEO was registered on December 29, 2023. Transavia France’s existing fleet, as per ch-aviation fleets data, comprises seventy-one B737-800s, each with a capacity of 189 passengers. Of these, 61 are leased, and ten are owned, but none are currently leased from Avolon.

This delivery is part of a broader strategy within the Air France-KLM group, which includes Transavia France’s sister carrier, Transavia Airlines based in Amsterdam. Transavia Airlines received its first A321-200neo last month. Back in 2021, Air France-KLM made a significant commitment to modernizing its fleet by placing a firm order for 100 A320neo family jets, with options for 60 more.

The group’s aim is to achieve a fleet composition of 64% new-generation aircraft by 2028, a move that aligns with industry trends towards more fuel-efficient and environmentally friendly aircraft. The arrival of the A320neo into Transavia France’s fleet represents a crucial step in this direction, enhancing the airline’s operational efficiency and competitive edge in the European aviation market.
