Travaras Secures $1.54M to Scale Regenerative Travel

San Francisco-based regenerative travel startup Travaras has raised $1.54 million in pre-seed funding, surpassing its initial target of $1.5 million. The company called the raise a “major milestone” as it builds momentum in promoting sustainable and regenerative tourism. The funding will support development of Travaras’ core product platform, enhance the traveler experience, and launch educational marketing campaigns aimed at making regenerative travel more accessible and widely adopted.

Travaras currently offers curated travel experiences in Hawaii, designed to support local communities and ecosystems. Its goal is to make regenerative travel—defined as travel that leaves a positive impact on destinations—the new standard rather than a niche offering. Co-founded by CEO Jennifer Loh and Chief Brand Officer Lisa Hennessy, the startup is gaining traction for its mission-driven approach to tourism.

The company plans to use the funding to improve its end-to-end travel platform and create content-driven marketing campaigns powered by in-house storytelling and creator partnerships. These campaigns are aimed at raising awareness around regenerative travel practices and encouraging more travelers to engage in meaningful, responsible tourism.

Investor Neal Sales-Griffin, managing director of Techstars San Francisco, said Travaras changed his perspective on travel startups, which are often seen as high-risk. He credited Loh and her team for their commitment and vision, adding that the Techstars Bay Area team became “believers” in the company’s mission. Travaras joined the Techstars portfolio in 2024, though additional details on other investors or terms of the round were not disclosed.
