Tripadvisor Hires Ex-Booking.com Exec as Viator’s New President

Tripadvisor Appoints Ex-Booking.com Exec Pepijn Rijvers as Viator President
Tripadvisor Group has named Pepijn Rijvers, a former Booking.com executive, as the new president of Viator, effective April 1, 2025. The appointment follows a year-long search after Ben Drew stepped down from the role in 2024.
Rijvers, who spent over 12 years at Booking.com as chief marketing officer and managing director of hotels, brings marketplace expertise, supply management, and data-driven strategy to Viator. His selection follows a six-month advisory role at Tripadvisor before officially taking the helm.
Viator has become Tripadvisor’s fastest-growing division, contributing 46% of the company’s total revenue in 2024, with $4.2 billion in gross booking value—a 12% year-over-year increase. CEO Matt Goldberg emphasized Viator’s role as a strategic and financial growth driver, with expectations to surpass Tripadvisor’s core business in revenue this year.
Rijvers sees Viator as a “global marketplace for experiences” with untapped potential. His priorities include expanding supply, improving personalization, and enhancing app-driven bookings—now Viator’s fastest-growing segment.
Additionally, Kristin Dorsett, Viator’s chief product officer, has been promoted to chief operating officer. Goldberg highlighted Viator’s investment in talent, marketing, product, technology, and AI-driven customer engagement to fuel growth.
With a focus on expanding its global reach, refining customer experience, and scaling supply, Viator aims to strengthen its leadership in the tours and activities sector under Rijvers’ direction.
