True North Airways has obtained a Canadian CAR 704 commuter certificate, allowing it to offer mid-size and large business jet charters. Parent company Northfield also announced its expansion into El Salvador with a new subsidiary, TNA South, aiming to capitalize on the country’s pro-business policies and bitcoin-friendly economy.

“With our expanded facilities, diverse fleet, and entry into El Salvador, we are positioned to serve clients seeking efficient, flexible air travel,” said CEO Iain Hayden. “Our new jet charter certification and enhanced cargo capabilities make this an exciting time for TNA and our partners.”

True North previously operated only small aircraft commercially but now offers business jet charters with a Gulfstream G100. The Citation II, however, remains under CAR 604 private operations. The fleet also includes a PC-12, three DHC-2 seaplanes, a Piper PA-28, three Cessna C172Ks, and an Eurocopter AS350.

In El Salvador, TNA South secured 50 acres in El Zonte (Bitcoin Beach) to establish an aviation hub and will accept charter payments in bitcoin. Northfield believes El Salvador’s political reforms and security improvements create a favorable business climate.

Additionally, Northfield has completed a 13,000-square-foot hangar at Midland Huronia, Canada, complementing its existing Sudbury facility.

This expansion marks a significant step for True North Airways, reinforcing its position in the charter aviation and business jet markets.
