Trump Hotel and New Atlantis Resort Boost Maldives Expansion

A top South Asian destination is set for a significant luxury boost as officials confirm two major resort developments in the Maldives, including the debut of Trump International Hotel Maldives and a new Atlantis property.
Trump International Hotel Maldives will be the Trump brand’s first resort in the Maldives and the world’s first tokenized hotel development. The project allows investors to participate from inception through a blockchain-based investment model. Located 25 minutes by speedboat from Malé, the resort will feature around 80 ultra-luxury beach and overwater villas designed for maximum privacy and exclusivity. The opening is targeted for late 2028.
“We are delighted to bring the Trump brand to the Maldives in collaboration with DarGlobal,” said Eric Trump, Executive Vice President of The Trump Organization. “This development will redefine luxury in the region and set a new benchmark for innovation in real estate investment through tokenization.” DarGlobal CEO Ziad El Chaar added that the project blends luxury, technology and new investment structures in a global first.
Meanwhile, Kerzner International Holdings Limited and Assets Group have announced Atlantis The Royal, Maldives, scheduled to open in 2029. Located in South Malé Atoll, the resort will span two islands—Family Island and Luxury Island—offering 493 keys, including 270 hotel rooms and 223 villas and mansions. The property will be accessible via a 10-minute seaplane transfer or a 25-minute speedboat ride from Velana International Airport.
Guests will be able to explore 20 dining venues, two beach clubs and a 70,000-square-metre Aquaventure waterpark featuring more than a dozen rides anchored by the signature Poseidon and Neptune Towers.
H.E. Mohamed Al Shaibani, Managing Director of ICD and Chairman of the Board at Kerzner International, said the signing marks a major milestone in the company’s global growth. The partnership with Assets Group aims to create a world-class destination that blends innovation, sustainability and cultural authenticity.
Moutaz Al Khayyat, Chairman of Assets Group, added that Atlantis The Royal, Maldives, represents a commitment to developing iconic, future-focused destinations that elevate luxury tourism and leave a lasting legacy for generations to come.
