TUI fly Nordic retires last 737-800

TUI fly Nordic (6B, Stockholm Arlanda) has retired its last B737-800, thereby becoming an all-MAX operator in the narrowbody segment.

SE-RFX (msn 37246) was ferried from Stockholm Arlanda to Birmingham Int’l on November 15, 2021, three days after it operated its last revenue flight from Las Palmas to the Swedish capital. On November 28, the 9.7-year-old jet, owned by Jackson Square Aviation, was repositioned to London Gatwick. It is due to return to TUI Airways (BY, London Luton), which operated it through March 2019 and will again be registered as G-TAWY. However, as of November 29, it has yet to be returned to the British register.

TUI fly Nordic’s fleet currently comprises two active B737-8s and one B787-9 parked at Stockholm airport since mid-October 2021. The ch-aviation fleets history module shows the airline had operated a total of fifteen B737-800s in its history, although never more than seven at the same time. It is currently by far the smallest of the TUI Group AOCs.

For its British sister carrier, the newly transferred B737-800 will become its twenty-ninth unit of the type.
