Turkish Airlines is set to launch a new four-weekly service from Istanbul Airport (IST) to Santiago de Chile (SCL) starting December 18, 2024. This exciting new route will be an extension of its existing service to São Paulo-Guarulhos Airport (GRU) in Brazil, utilizing 5th Freedom rights. These rights allow airlines to carry passengers between two foreign countries as part of a journey that originates in their home country.

The flight will be operated using an Airbus A350-900, which will have a scheduled layover of 1 hour and 35 minutes in São Paulo before continuing on to Santiago. This strategic connection not only enhances Turkish Airlines’ offerings in South America but also simplifies travel options for passengers looking to connect between Istanbul and Chile.

Currently, Turkish Airlines also operates its Buenos Aires (EZE) service as a Fifth Freedom route via São Paulo, showcasing the airline’s commitment to providing extensive travel options within the Americas. With the addition of Santiago de Chile, the airline will serve a total of 26 destinations across the continent, reinforcing its position as a key player in international travel.

By launching this route, Turkish Airlines further establishes itself as the airline with the largest global reach, now serving ten countries in the Americas. The addition of Chile not only expands the airline’s footprint but also enhances connectivity for travelers seeking to explore South America from various global locations.

This announcement follows Turkish Airlines’ recent unveiling of another ultra-long-haul route to Sydney (SYD), which is also operated as a Fifth Freedom route via Kuala Lumpur (KUL), Malaysia. This expansion reflects the airline’s ongoing strategy to enhance its global network and offer more direct connections to key destinations worldwide.

As Turkish Airlines continues to grow its international service offerings, travelers can expect a higher level of convenience and flexibility when planning their journeys. The airline’s commitment to expanding its network demonstrates its dedication to meeting the evolving needs of passengers, whether for leisure or business travel.

With competitive pricing and a focus on customer service, Turkish Airlines aims to attract a diverse range of travelers eager to explore new destinations. The new service to Santiago de Chile promises to deliver the high-quality experience that the airline is known for, featuring modern aircraft, comfortable seating, and excellent in-flight services.

As the travel landscape continues to evolve, Turkish Airlines remains focused on expanding its presence in key markets, providing passengers with more options and better connectivity than ever before. The new Istanbul-Santiago route is set to become a vital link for travelers, connecting the vibrant cultures of Turkey and Chile.
