Turkish Airlines Places Record Boeing Order for 225 Aircraft

Turkish Airlines, Turkey’s national flag carrier, has announced a massive expansion plan with a record order for 225 Boeing aircraft. In a filing to the Istanbul Stock Exchange on September 26, the airline confirmed a firm purchase of 75 Boeing 787 Dreamliners—including 35 of the 787-9, 15 of the larger 787-10, and options for an additional 25 aircraft—marking its largest-ever Boeing widebody acquisition. The announcement followed a meeting between Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and U.S. President Donald Trump in Washington.
Alongside the Dreamliner order, Turkish Airlines said it has completed negotiations with Boeing to acquire up to 150 additional 737-8 and 737-10 models, which will represent its largest single-aisle Boeing purchase when finalized. Combined, the 787 and 737 Max orders will double Turkish Airlines’ Boeing fleet as the carrier accelerates capacity growth and global network expansion.
“This landmark agreement represents much more than fleet growth. It reflects our leadership in the industry and our dedication to innovation and operational excellence,” said Prof. Ahmet Bolat, Chairman of the Board and Executive Committee at Turkish Airlines. “The addition of these advanced Boeing aircraft to our fleet will not only enhance our operational capabilities but also support our 2033 Vision of expanding to 800 aircraft.”
Turkish Airlines already operates more than 200 Boeing jets, including 787-9 Dreamliners, 777s, 737 Max, Next-Generation 737s, and 777 Freighters, across a network that reaches more countries than any other airline. Adding the larger 787-10 will increase passenger and cargo capacity while boosting fuel efficiency on high-demand routes linking Istanbul with destinations in the U.S., Africa, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East.
The 787 Dreamliner family also offers enhanced passenger comfort, including larger windows, lower cabin altitude, less dry air, and technology that senses and counters turbulence for a smoother ride.
Stephanie Pope, president and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, welcomed the deal: “We are honored that Turkish Airlines has once again chosen the 787 Dreamliner and 737 Max to power its future growth. As a proud partner to Turkey and the Turkish aviation industry for 80 years, we look forward to continuing our support as they expand operations and deliver exceptional experiences to their passengers.”
For eight decades, Boeing has supported Turkey’s airline operators with commercial jets and services as well as the government with defense platforms. With offices in Ankara and Istanbul, Boeing has invested $2 billion in supply chain development, creating nearly 5,000 jobs in Turkey and integrating local suppliers into the global aerospace industry.
