Turkish Airlines concluded 2023 with a remarkable achievement, carrying 83.4 million passengers, reflecting a significant growth in both domestic and international capacity. The airline experienced a 23.5% increase in domestic passenger capacity, with more than 30 million travelers, and a 16% increase in international capacity, transporting 53 million passengers internationally.

In their recent announcement, Turkish Airlines highlighted the notable growth in travel to European countries with substantial Turkish populations, witnessing a more than 20% year-over-year increase in passenger numbers. This growth outpaced the industry average, with global international capacity remaining 12% below 2019 levels, as per the International Air Transport Association (IATA). In contrast, Turkish Airlines exceeded its 2019 international capacity by 27%.

Further establishing its prominence, Istanbul Airport, bolstered by significant investments in aviation infrastructure, emerged as the leading European airport in terms of daily flight numbers. Meanwhile, Turkish Cargo expanded its operations considerably, achieving a 16% increase in freight ton kilometers compared to 2019, and now ranks fourth globally among air cargo carriers.

As part of its centennial strategy, Turkish Airlines aims to expand its fleet to 800 aircraft by 2033, having increased its fleet size by 12% to 440 aircraft in 2023 amidst global supply challenges.

Moreover, Turkish Airlines played a crucial role in relief efforts following the devastating Kahramanmaraş-centered earthquakes in Türkiye, conducting free humanitarian flights and making significant financial contributions for recovery efforts.

With over 83,000 employees, Turkish Airlines continues to be a key player in the global air transportation sector, proudly representing its nation on the international stage.
