Turkish, IndiGo, Air Europa Among New Global Routes

Turkish Airlines will launch daily flights between Istanbul Airport and Seville Airport starting September 17, 2025, marking its sixth Spanish destination. Operating on Boeing 737-8s, the service will supplement the carrier’s existing links to Barcelona, Bilbao, Madrid, Malaga and Valencia. “We are pleased to launch flights to Seville, one of Spain’s oldest cities, facilitating new opportunities for tourism and business,” said Turkish Airlines CEO Bilal Eksi.
In South Asia, IndiGo is set to deepen its Middle East network by connecting Abu Dhabi to two new Indian cities this June. The carrier’s Bhubaneswar–Abu Dhabi route will operate three times weekly from June 12, while Visakhapatnam–Abu Dhabi flights will run four times per week from June 13. With these additions, IndiGo will offer over 100 weekly services into Abu Dhabi from 15 Indian cities and 275 weekly links to the UAE across its network.
Air Europa has also joined the Istanbul market by inaugurating a Madrid–Istanbul service this May. Initially operating four times per week using Boeing 787-8 and 787-9 aircraft, the airline will ramp up to daily flights from July 7. This launch comes as Turkish Airlines and Pegasus Airlines already serve Istanbul from Madrid, offering passengers multiple carrier choices between Spain and Turkey.
In Sweden, regional operator Västflyg will reinstate a domestic route between Visby Airport on the island of Gotland and Stockholm Bromma Airport after a six-month hiatus. The airline, backed by local businesses including Gotlandsbolaget and ICA Maxi Visby, plans around 50 weekly departures, reconnecting the island community with the Swedish capital.
Dominican low-cost carrier Arajet is boosting its South American presence by increasing its Punta Cana–Buenos Aires frequency from seven to 13 weekly flights this October. The airline will also resume Santo Domingo–Buenos Aires service twice a week from December 12, bringing its total Buenos Aires frequencies to 15 per week by year-end.
On May 12, Mongolian start-up Hunnu Air inaugurated its first Embraer 195-E2 route, flying from Ulaanbaatar to Beijing Daxing. The aircraft’s 136-seat, dual-class configuration will support future capacity increases to destinations such as Haikou, Sanya, Phu Quoc and Tashkent, and from June 3, the Ulaanbaatar–Beijing service will grow from four times weekly to daily. “The E2 will become the backbone of our growth, delivering unparalleled connectivity across the region,” said CEO Munkhjargal Purevjal.
Scoot, Singapore Airlines’ low-cost unit, is expanding capacity on multiple Asian and Australian routes to meet rising travel demand. From June 6, Iloilo flights will double to four weekly, Cebu will increase to ten, and Davao to 12 by August. Perth and Sydney services will each grow to 14 weekly by late summer, while flights to Koh Samui, Seoul and Taipei will also see added frequencies.
In Latin America, Argentina’s Flybondi will launch four new winter routes to Brazil. From December 1, the airline will connect Córdoba with Florianópolis and Rio de Janeiro, followed by Buenos Aires to Maceió and Salvador from December 15.
Mexico’s TAR Aerolíneas will add four domestic services on July 7: Aguascalientes–La Paz will operate four times weekly, and Los Mochis–Chihuahua, Chihuahua–Querétaro and Los Mochis–La Paz will each run three times weekly using Embraer ERJ145 aircraft.
Finally, Air Canada will resume seasonal nonstop service between Montréal–Trudeau and Nassau, Bahamas, from June 20 to August 29, using Airbus A220s for weekly Friday flights. The carrier will also continue six to seven weekly Airbus A220 rotations between Toronto Pearson and Nassau, catering to summer vacationers on both coasts of Canada.
These network enhancements reflect airlines’ strategic efforts to capture growing leisure and business travel markets while responding to shifting demand patterns across Europe, Asia, the Americas and beyond.
