Two Major New Airport Lounges Open at SFO: What to Expect

Share

San Francisco International Airport (SFO) has introduced two remarkable new lounges that offer a much-needed retreat from the bustling terminals and long TSA lines. The newly opened Alaska Lounge and Club SFO, the airport’s first Priority Pass-accessible lounge, promise a range of upscale amenities and a nod to Northern California’s unique charm.

Alaska Lounge: Enhanced Comfort and Local Flavors

Located in Terminal 2, the Alaska Lounge spans 11,000 square feet, offering 55% more seating than its predecessor. The lounge features luxurious leather chairs with views of the tarmac, ample power outlets, and two TalkBox privacy booths for calls or virtual meetings.

Food options include complimentary soups, salads, and made-to-order pancakes with a variety of syrups. Exclusive to San Francisco are Acme Bread’s renowned sourdough and Bay Area sweets like Ghirardelli chocolates and Oakland Fortune Factory cookies. For an additional cost, guests can enjoy bar favorites like cheeseburgers and chicken tenders.

Beverage options are extensive, including a Coca-Cola Freestyle machine with over 100 soda combinations and a barista station for handcrafted espresso drinks. The lounge offers local beers, West Coast wines, and basic liquors at no charge, with premium spirits and wines available for purchase.

The Alaska Lounge, located across from Gate B6, operates from 5 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. daily. Access is complimentary for business-class ticket holders and Oneworld Emerald and Chase Sapphire cardholders flying internationally. Yearly memberships start at $450 for the basic “Alaska Lounge” option and $650 for the “Alaska Lounge+,” which includes access to 90 partner lounges. Single-entry day passes are available for $60 ($30 for active military personnel).

Club SFO: A Nod to Northern California’s Outdoors

The 12,000-square-foot Club SFO in Terminal 1 is designed to reflect Northern California’s outdoor beauty. With decor inspired by redwood trees and a faux firepit that mimics flames, the lounge creates a serene environment. Lighting resembles sunlight filtering through a canopy, enhancing the outdoor ambiance.

The lounge offers a mix of seating options, including leather armchairs and bistro tables. The food menu highlights locally sourced ingredients, featuring Japanese scrambled eggs, fruit parfaits for breakfast, and entrees like enchilada bowls and carrot coconut curry for lunch and dinner. Guests can also enjoy California-inspired cocktails such as the Frisco, Golden Gate Gramble, and Gold Rush, alongside a wine list featuring California vintages.

Unique amenities include “bioluminescence rooms” designed to help adjust to different time zones, a mini gym with Lululemon fitness mirrors, private pods for phone calls, a family room, and three showers (the latter available for an additional $25).

Located across from Gate B4, the Club SFO is open from 4 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily. Access is available for Priority Pass and LoungeKey members, business-class passengers with Turkish Airlines, and Star Alliance Gold members. Day passes can be purchased for $75.

These new lounges at SFO offer travelers a luxurious escape with exceptional amenities, making the airport experience more comfortable and enjoyable.
