Two United Boeing 737 Jets Collide on Houston Tarmac, Causing Flight Delays

Two United Airlines aircraft made contact on the tarmac at George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston on November 18 during taxi operations, the airline confirmed.

Flight UA544, a Boeing 737-900 departing for Cleveland, was taxiing when it struck the wing of Flight UA2451, also a 737-900, which had just pushed back from its gate bound for Orlando.

No injuries were reported. Both aircraft returned to the gate, passengers deplaned, and new equipment was substituted — leading to delays of over two hours for both flights.

The incident follows a similar occurrence in September at San Francisco International Airport, where two United jets made contact during ground operations.
