The U.S. State Department has updated its travel advisory list for June, issuing “serious” travel warnings for four countries that exceed the standard Level 1: Exercise Normal Precautions status. The advisory levels, ranging from Level 1 to Level 4, reflect risks including crime, civil unrest, terrorism, and health issues.

As of June, the following countries have received updated travel warnings above Level 1:

  • Israel – Level 4: Do Not Travel
The warning cites ongoing armed conflict, terrorism, and civil unrest. U.S. citizens are strongly advised against travel to the region due to unpredictable security threats.
  • Dominican Republic – Level 2: Exercise Increased Caution
Crime is the primary concern. The advisory notes that violent crime remains a risk, even in tourist areas. Travelers are urged to avoid displaying wealth, remain alert, and avoid secluded encounters with strangers.
  • India – Level 2: Exercise Increased Caution
The warning highlights risks from crime and terrorism. U.S. citizens are cautioned that violent crimes, including sexual assault, have occurred at tourist sites. Terror attacks may occur with little or no warning.
  • Mozambique – Level 2: Exercise Increased Caution
Previously listed at Level 3, the country was downgraded due to a reduction in protest activity. However, caution is still advised due to health concerns, crime, civil unrest, and terrorism. The Niassa Special Reserve remains a “Do Not Travel” zone.

These advisories serve as essential guidance for U.S. travelers and reflect the government’s ongoing assessment of global safety risks.
