247 Aviation has expanded its fleet with the acquisition of two Learjet 45s and announced plans to open a new base in southern England, supported by a GBP7.98 million (USD10.84 million) investment from parent company SERE Holdings.

James McKnight, director of flight operations, said the Learjet 45 was chosen for its range, performance, and cabin design, making it well-suited for intensive care patient transport. The aircraft are expected to be registered and operational by August 31, with one already identified as G-EMCZ. This marks the company’s return to the Learjet 45 type after retiring a Learjet 45XR earlier this year.

The expansion will increase 247 Aviation’s air operator’s certificate (AOC) fleet to nine aircraft. Alongside the two Learjet 45s, the operator manages two DA62s, four PC-12s, and a Pilatus PC-24 added in May. Some aircraft, including two PC-12s and the PC-24, are operated on behalf of Silver Aviation.

The company also confirmed the launch of a new satellite base in southern England, aimed at improving response times for urgent medical transport and expanding service coverage across the UK and Ireland. Dr Neil Crooks, medical director, highlighted the move as a key step in enhancing access to critical care.

Based in Northern Ireland, 247 Aviation operates both air ambulance and executive charter services. Its parent, SERE Holdings, also owns Jet Assist, a fixed-base operator at Belfast International and Belfast City airports.

With the addition of these jets, 247 Aviation becomes one of only three UK AOC holders currently operating Learjet-family aircraft.
