Unicair, a Cologne/Bonn-based air ambulance operator, has expanded its fleet with the recent addition of a Learjet 45, marking its first non-XR variant of this model. The newly acquired jet, registered as D-CHLP (msn 45-005), completed its initial flight with Unicair on November 6, 2024, under its ‘UNI’ code. The flight connected Copenhagen Roskilde, where the aircraft had been in storage since September 2022, to Odense, indicating the start of its new operational phase with Unicair.

This Learjet 45, at 26.9 years old, has a notable history, having originally been registered in the United States before moving through several countries, including the UK, Austria, Denmark, and Norway. Its most recent operator was Airwing in Norway, where it flew under the registration LN-AWE before being stored. With this addition, Unicair now diversifies its fleet further by integrating an older, reliable aircraft, which it plans to use to strengthen its air ambulance operations.

Unicair has established a reputation in the German and European market as a key provider of air ambulance services, having formed from the merger of Air Alliance (Germany) and Jetcall. Specializing in medical transportation, the company now operates a versatile fleet of 18 aircraft, each tailored to meet specific operational requirements. In addition to the newly added Learjet 45, the company’s fleet includes three Bombardier Challenger 604s, two Learjet 31As, five Learjet 35As, one Learjet 35A(ZR Lite), and four Learjet 45XRs, along with two Learjet 45XRs configured for air ambulance needs. This diverse lineup enables Unicair to handle a range of missions, from urgent medical evacuations to longer-haul patient transport, covering both domestic and international routes.

The acquisition of the Learjet 45 not only marks Unicair’s first step into non-XR variants of the aircraft but also reflects the company’s commitment to adapting its resources to meet evolving patient transport needs. The Learjet 45 is known for its reliability, agility, and ability to operate in various conditions, making it suitable for time-sensitive medical missions. For Unicair, this addition represents an opportunity to enhance its fleet capabilities, especially as demand for medical air transport remains high across Europe.

As Unicair continues to grow, its expanding fleet of specialized aircraft positions it to meet the critical needs of medical patients requiring rapid and safe air transport. With this recent acquisition, Unicair reaffirms its mission to deliver essential health services across a broad geographic range, leveraging its expertise in air ambulance services to provide life-saving support.
