United Airlines has announced plans to hire 10,000 new pilots by 2030 and train 5,000 pilots at its new flight-training academy, with a goal of ensuring that half of the students are BIPOC or women. The company will also be awarding $1.2 million in scholarships to address the financial disparities that make it challenging for BIPOC and women to pursue piloting careers, and its credit card partner JPMorgan Chase will match the amount to contribute to scholarships as well.
