United Airlines has unveiled its first retrofitted Airbus A319 with the United NEXT interior, featuring a range of new cabin amenities. The upgrades aim to enhance the passenger experience and bring United’s narrowbody fleet up to date. The new features include:

  • Seatback screens with inflight entertainment (13 inches in first class and 10 inches in economy).
  • Bluetooth capabilities for audio, AC power outlets, USB ports at every seat.
  • High-speed Wi-Fi.
  • Larger overhead bins, and LED ambient lighting throughout the cabin.
  • First-class seats have also been improved with added privacy wings and increased recline.
  • The economy cabin received upgrades such as universal power outlets and USB charging ports.

The retrofitted Airbus A319, with registration N801UA, returned to service after a three-month hiatus during which it underwent the upgrades at a facility in Melbourne, Florida, and received a new paint job in Roswell, New Mexico.

The aircraft is expected to operate numerous flights over the next few days, marking the beginning of its revamped service. This A319 is the first of over a hundred aircraft in United’s fleet that will receive the updated cabin amenities.

United Airlines announced its plan to upgrade the cabins of its narrowbody Boeing and Airbus aircraft under the United NEXT campaign in June 2021. The airline aims to complete the retrofitting project by 2027. With its extensive route network and fleet, United Airlines aims to enhance the overall customer experience and remain competitive with other airlines offering similar features.
