United Airlines’ Summer 2024: Expanding Horizons with New San Francisco-Barcelona Route and More
United Airlines is set to redefine air travel in the summer of 2024 with its largest-ever transatlantic schedule, featuring a groundbreaking new nonstop flight from San Francisco to Barcelona. Launching in May 2024, this service is part of United’s ambitious expansion, strengthening its network with more destinations and flexible options for travelers.
This new San Francisco-Barcelona route, operating as United Flight UA-672, promises an 11.5-hour journey, departing San Francisco at 5:25 p.m. and arriving in Barcelona at 1:55 p.m. the following day. The return flight, UA-673, will take about 12.5 hours, creating a convenient link between these two vibrant cities.
In addition to the San Francisco-Barcelona route, United is also enhancing its service to other European destinations. The airline already operates daily flights to Madrid, Palma de Mallorca, Málaga, and Tenerife, and plans to add services from Dulles International Airport, Newark Liberty International Airport, and Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport to Barcelona. The Dulles-Barcelona flight is set to begin on February 15, 2024.
United’s summer 2024 expansion doesn’t stop at Europe. The airline’s network across the Pacific is expected to grow by more than 30%, with non-stop service to 15 destinations, including new routes between San Francisco and Manila, and San Francisco and Beijing. Additionally, United plans to increase its Latin American schedule by 10%, adding services like Denver-San Juan and New York/Newark-Barbados.
United’s senior vice president of global network planning and alliances, Patrick Quayle, emphasizes the airline’s commitment to offering the most flights to the most destinations across the Atlantic. This expansion signifies United’s dedication to providing customers with a wide range of travel options, whether they seek popular tourist spots or hidden gems.
